About MRR
Methow Resource Recovery (MRR) salvages used building and landscape materials which would end up in dumpsites, burn piles, and transfer stations. We sell these, and new recycled materials as well, for reuse in the Methow Valley and beyond.
MRR's activities include maintaining a sales center to circulate useable materials back into the community, raising public awareness, and providing skills education (such as constructing a model of a chicken coop or cold frame, complete with plans on how to build them.)
Methow Resource Recovery's History
In just six years, MRR has proven to have a successful and durable financial foundation. After our first summer in an old Army tent, we acquired a steel and vinyl storage structure and have built three display units to secure and shelter inventory. All labor has been provided by volunteers.
Our materials come from contractors and homeowners. All materials are donated to The Cove so that people who contribute a substantial amount can take a tax deduction. People are encouraged to deliver items themselves, but board members and volunteers occasionally pick up and transport large loads and heavy items.
Often customers have requested that we stay open additional days so that we coordinate with the Transfer Station and Methow Valley Recycles schedules. We are now open Thursdays as well as Saturdays. Hours for both days are 10 am - 4 pm.
Founded in 2006, Methow Resource Recovery is a service-specific project sponsored by The Cove, a 501(c)(3) organization also located in Twisp. This is our mission Statement:
Methow Resource Recovery is a non-profit effort to benefit the Methow and Okanogan Valley communities by better utilizing our economic and environmental resources.
